Founded in 1881, Downham Town Football Club—affectionately known as “the Saints”—has been a pillar of the Downham Market community in Norfolk for well over a century. Initially competing in local junior leagues, the club achieved senior status in 1949 by joining the Peterborough & District League Premier Division, a significant milestone in its early evolution

Throughout its storied history, Downham Town has enjoyed success in regional competitions, claiming titles in the Peterborough & District League in the early 1960s and again in the late 1970s and 1980s, and lifting the Norfolk Senior Cup in 1964, 1966—and most recently in the 2023–24 season

After decades of playing in the Eastern Counties League, the club earned a well-deserved promotion to the Premier Division by triumphing in the 2022–23 play-offs—a testament to a new era of ambition and achievement

Their winning momentum continued into the 2024–25 season: finishing third in the Premier Division, navigating the play-offs with victories over Ely City and Walsham-le-Willows, and securing promotion to the Isthmian League North Division—the highest tier they've ever reached

Home matches are contested at the charming Memorial Field in Downham Market—a ground shared with the local cricket club, featuring three sides with hardstanding, a seated main stand, and two covered standing areas
