Downham made it 3 wins from 3 starts under caretaker boss Craig Dickson as they moved into 3rd spot with a win over Haverhill Borough, The visitors were quick out of the gates and took the game to Town who needed to be at their defensive best to keep Haverhill at bay, however once the home side settled they looked to be in full control and duly opened the scoring when Ben Baxter-Hunt scored in the 17th minute after linking up well with Matty Bussens who's cheeky back flick caught the Haverhill defence by surprise, Town continued to press for a second before the break but it wasn't to be, after the interval Haverhill nearly equalized early on only to be denied by Jack Gould's goal line clearance, in the 60th minute Baxter-Hunt was brought down in the area for Downham's first penalty of the afternoon, BBH stepped up and slotted home for both his and Towns second goal in the game, twenty minutes later it was a case of deja vu as this time Matty Bussens was fouled in the area and Downham were given their second penalty of the day, unfortunately BBH missed out on the chance of a hat-trick as he had already been substituted, so it was left to Bussens to step up and take the honours as he calmly added Towns third giving the home side a well deserved victory.
Man of the match Lewis Truman.
